……. and the start of a roof!
Anyone who has been in the park in the past few days will have seen the tremendous progress on the Pavilion. Several of the inner walls have been erected and the roof-line is starting to emerge.
Gary the Site Manager tells me progress would have been much greater but for the high winds which have impeded the ability of the crane to pick up the pre-fabricated panels.
I am told that several people have expressed concern in the parish office about the wooden panels, given that the old pavilion was destroyed as a result of arson. The Pavilion Working Party was always aware of the threat of arson so we always planned for the new building to be as fire proof as possible; the wooden wall panels will be clad in brick, all the roof timbers are eight hour fire retardent and the roof will be made of metal.
