Just home from the Cholsey 1000+ AGM and a fantastic historical talk by Judy Dewey about the history of Cholsey.
The most amazing fact is that the first royal train journey took place from the old Moulsford Station. Apparently in 1842 Queen Adelaide, mother of Victoria, travelled from there to Swindon of all places!
We also learned that in the 1600s Little Lane – where I live – was one of the major village thoroughfares. remarkable when you consider how narrow it is now.
